Coralla Maiuri

“I have been creating works and installations for many years. For the last two years pottery has absorbed most of my expressive energy. As a painter, I follow an empirical and intuitive process that supports my story, which at times is not very clear even to myself. In my work, memories of a rural past intersect with beauty to create something unique.”

Coralla Maiuri lends her sensitivity to the creation of ceramics and porcelains that seem dreamy and familiar at the same time. It is as if plates bowls cups vases sculptures and jars were small universes. Experimentation of materials and decorations never stops in a swirl of creativity. Each object is entirely hand-decorated.

Tableware includes the rich, golden Villa Borghese collection – expressive Caravaggio, elegant Michelangelo, soft Dafne, sunny Paolina, oriental Apollo, passionate Scipione – all named after rooms of the Borghese Gallery as a tribute to Roman Renaissance and Baroque art. 

The Piazza del Popolo collection of Blue Marble and Confetti now includes also Celestial; they are inspired by traditional, simple Italian artisanal pottery decorated in a personal and elegant key with original croquelé golden rims. Corallo’s lines – Acqua and Seabed – paint the bottom of the sea as seen through a lens. Coralla’s Mugs are a symbol of her work, charming and fun. The Bottega D’Arte are unrepeatable vases, centerpieces and sculptures where she experiments freely.

Coralla Maiuri is a multifaceted artist who has been creating works and installations for over twenty years, taking part in exhibitions in international galleries. She also designs furniture, lamps, fabrics in which she expresses the enchantment of a dreamy aesthetic together with a practical sense of use.
